Nylon (Polyimide) Many formulations; both crystalline and amorphous properties can be obtained.
Nylon family members are identified by the number of carbon atoms in the monomers. Nylons resist nonpolar solvents, including aromatic hydrocarbons; they are softned by and absorb polar
materials such as Alchohols, glycols, water. Nylon 6/6 (hexamethylene diamine adipic acid) is considered general purpose and along with Nylon 6 (polycaprolactam) is the most
widely used due to qualities of high strength, impact and abrasion resistance, high temperature tolerance, and costeffectiveness. Maxiumum continuos temperature: 220° F (104°C).
