Product Description
Titanium 6AL 4V ELI Wire (ASTM B348, B863, F136 Chemistry Only) is annealed, drawn, straightened, cut, etched and cleaned. Outstanding corrosion resistance, low density (.160 lbs/in3) and excellent biocompatibility have made Titanium and its alloys the material of choice for aerospace, medical devices/implants and marine applications. Ti6AL-4V, grade 5, is alloyed with 6 percent aluminum and 4 percent vanadium and was originally developed for the aerospace industry. This alloy accounts for approximately half of all Titanium production. The E.L.I. (extra low interstitials) designation refers to a premium grade generally specified for medical devices and implantable bone screws, pins, staples and orthodontic appliances. Melt imperfections and interstitial elements are carefully controlled to improve ductility and fracture toughness. Enhanced surface treatment yields a clean, fairly smooth mill finish. Length tolerance is + 1/4 / -0 inches.
